Featured Student : Ben Lee Warner

Ben’s a quiet, polite and unassuming young lad who has been coming for lessons for about 3 years now. Turned up with a bass and two or three lessons later switched to electric guitar.

Sometimes late and often forgetful, Ben was lucky enough to persuade his Dad to buy him a new Mexican Telecaster Last year, but unfortunately forgot to zip his gig bag up properly one morning and it fell out on the way to school!!!!! He’s now slowly turning it into a “relic”.

But that hasn’t stopped Ben making great progress with his playing, his Grades (now working on Grade 6) and playing / writing with his band White Rose.

White Rose

I have been following their progress over the last couple of years now and I think they sound very promising – here playing my favourite track of theirs Lay Down.

Ben told me they were entering for the 2011 Battle of The Bands Competition run by the QE VIth Form in Darlington.

I forget about this until last week when I asked Ben how he had got on. “Oh we won!!” he said nonchalantly – I think this boy will go far!!!

They have won 10 hours recording time at The Forum in Darlington which will now doubt add to their existing “mini-album“.

Get to see Ben and White Rose if you can – before you have to buy tickets!!!
